Definition of "Song Form"

Songs are divided into sections, such as verse, chorus, bridge. Basic sections are usually, but not always, 8 bars long. Each section is labeled with a letter name. For instance, the verse would be the "A" section, the chorus the "B" section, and the bridge the "C" section. More complex songs could contain a D, E, F, and more sections.

A song form is the order in which these sections are arranged. For instance, a 2 section song with just a verse and chorus could be arranged in any one of many ways, such as AAAB, ABAA, AABA, ABAB, etc. This grouping of sections is called "Song Form".
